Intended Use

Designed for cranio-maxillofacial and orthognathic procedures, these forceps are primarily intended for the mobilization, reduction, and disimpaction of the maxilla. They are critical instruments during Le Fort osteotomies and the structural repair of severe midface trauma or maxillary fractures.

Function

These forceps operate as a designated left and right pair. The slender, straight blade is carefully inserted into the nasal cavity to rest along the nasal floor, while the opposing curved blade rests securely against the hard palate inside the oral cavity. This dual-sided positioning creates a stable grip, allowing the surgeon to apply controlled anterior and downward traction to forcefully yet safely free an impacted maxillary bone.

Advantages

  • Atraumatic Grip: Provides a superior, firm hold on the maxilla while actively minimizing crushing trauma to the delicate nasal mucosa and palatal tissues.
  • Symmetrical Control: Using the left and right instruments simultaneously ensures balanced, bilateral leverage during complex disimpaction.
  • Ergonomic Leverage: The specifically angled handles grant the surgeon maximum physical leverage and precision without excessive manual strain.

Are these forceps used individually or as a pair?

They are designed with specific left and right curvatures and must be used as a simultaneous pair to achieve balanced maxillary manipulation.

Are they fully autoclavable?

Yes. Manufactured from premium surgical-grade stainless steel, they are highly durable, reusable, and fully compatible with standard autoclave sterilization cycles.
