XLite^® Multiangle Retrograde Distal Femur Nail End Caps

Prevention of Bony Ingrowth: Designed to seal the distal end of the intramedullary nail to prevent bone or soft tissue ingrowth into the internal driving threads, facilitating much easier hardware removal (explantation) in the future.

Nail Length Extension: Used to adjust or extend the absolute length of the nail (often available in multiple millimeter increments like 0mm, 5mm, 10mm, 15mm) in cases where the nail was over-inserted into the distal femur during surgery.

Locking Screw Securitization: In multiangle/locking nail systems, specific end caps are intended to lock against the most distal locking screw, creating a fixed-angle construct that enhances biomechanical stability and prevents screw back-out.

Thread Protection: Protects the internal connection threads of the nail from damage, ensuring the extraction tools can perfectly engage if the implant ever needs to be revised or removed.
