CAD Engineer
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and technically strong CAD Engineer to support design and development activities at our manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating precise 2D/3D models, drawings, and design documentation for orthopedic implants, ensuring accuracy, manufacturability, and compliance with industry standards.
This role requires strong design skills, in-depth knowledge of CAD software, and the ability to collaborate with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams in a regulated medical device manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
As a CAD Engineer, the responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to:
- Creating detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software (preferably Siemens NX / SolidWorks / AutoCAD).
- Interpreting engineering requirements, specifications, and design inputs to develop accurate models and drawings.
- Preparing manufacturing drawings with GD&T, tolerances, and technical specifications.
- Supporting product development, design modifications, and engineering change requests (ECR/ECN).
- Coordinating with Production, VMC Programmers, and Quality teams to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability.
- Maintaining design documentation, revision control, and drawing standards as per company and regulatory requirements.
- Assisting in prototype development and design validation activities.
- Ensuring all designs meet quality standards and compliance requirements for orthopedic implants.
- Troubleshooting design-related issues and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintaining proper records of design files, BOMs, and related technical documents.
- Experience & Qualifications
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 3+ years of experience as a CAD Engineer
- Preferably from orthopedic implants, medical devices, or precision engineering manufacturing
Education
Diploma / BE / BTech in Mechanical Engineering or Related Field
Technical Skills & Competencies
- Strong proficiency in CAD software (Siemens NX preferred)
- Knowledge of 2D drafting and 3D modeling
- Understanding of GD&T and engineering drawing standards
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, machining, and tooling
- Familiarity with design documentation and revision control
- Basic understanding of medical device standards is an added advantage
- Ability to handle detailed and complex design work independently
